AMBALA: A 28-year-old man travelling from Ludhiana in Punjab to Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh to attend his grandmother’s post-death rituals died after allegedly falling from a moving train, police said on Sunday.The body of the man, identified as Durgesh, was found near the railway tracks between Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment stations. Railway Police handed over the body to his relatives, who arrived from Raebareli on Sunday afternoon.Durgesh’s younger brother Brijesh, who was travelling with him, told police that the deceased worked as a painter in Ludhiana and was returning to Raebareli.According to Brijesh, the train was overcrowded and Durgesh was standing near the door when someone allegedly pushed him, causing him to fall from the moving train.Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.A post-mortem examination found that Durgesh had suffered a severe head injury. Injuries were also found on his chest, while one of his legs was fractured, officials said.A general-class ticket from Ludhiana to Lucknow was recovered from his pocket. Police said the ticket was for a train scheduled to leave Ludhiana at 2.10am on October 2.Durgesh was also carrying Rs 60 in cash and a mobile phone. The items have been taken into police custody, officials said.
