Ghaziabad: Three people were severely injured after a car ploughed into them at high speed at a petrol pump near Silver City on GT Road in Kotwali on Sunday night. The accused, who was arrested on Monday, allegedly crashed into the group after a worker at the petrol pump asked the driver to park the car towards the dispenser in the correct manner.The accused was caught on CCTV crashing a white Swift into the group before fleeing the scene. One of the victims was thrown five feet into the air by the impact. The car used in the incident has also been seized, police said.The pump’s manager, Anurag Chaudhary, filed a police complaint at Kotwali station. He alleged that a group of intoxicated youths drove into the petrol pump a little after 10 p.m. on Sunday. One of the workers, Manoj Kumar, asked them to turn the car towards the machine for refuelling. The accused then allegedly sped up their car and, while turning, hit Manoj as well as two customers – Sanjesh Kumar and Vikash Kumar – with the car.Manoj was allegedly run over before the accused fled the spot. All three were rushed to the district hospital, but Manoj was later referred to GS Medical College Pilkhua due to the severity of his injuries. All three are currently undergoing treatment.Chaudhary said two machines for filling diesel were also damaged in the incident.ACP (Kotwali) Upasana Pandey said an FIR has been registered against the driver, Deepu, under BNS sections 281 (rash driving), 125 (a) (punishes anyone who acts so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others) and 324 (4) (causing intentional property damage or loss).
