Noida: A man allegedly strangled his wife to death in their Dadri home in the early hours of Wednesday before fleeing the scene. The couple’s five-year-old son was in the house at the time and his cries alerted neighbours later in the morning. A murder case has been registered and police have formed teams to trace and arrest the accused.Kavita (30) was a resident of Kasba village in Greater Noida’s Dadri area. Police said a neighbour called the cops several hours after the incident is expect to have occurred. Police reached the scene and seized a scarf allegedly used to strangle her.Police said the couple had returned from visiting a temple in Rajasthan around 2am on Wednesday. An argument allegedly broke out between the couple shortly after, eventually leading to the accused strangling his wife with the scarf found at the scene. Several hours later, the couple’s five-year-old son approached the bedroom and discovered her body. His cries alerted other tenants in the building, who rushed in to help and later alerted police.Dadri SHO Neeraj Kumar Mishra said that the couple had been married for nearly a decade. Kavita was allegedly estranged from her family due to the marriage and her in-laws later took custody of her body for the last rites. Results of the post-mortem examination are awaited.An FIR has been registered against the accused under BNS Section 103 (murder) and search teams have been deployed. Investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the motive behind the killing, police added.
