Varanasi: A 52-year-old man was stabbed during a wedding ceremony in Marui village in Jakkhini locality under Rajatalab police station area on Wednesday night. Dispute at a wedding ceremony turned into an altercation, in which, the groom’s uncle was stabbed by the bride’s brother’s . The injured was admitted to hospital, where he died during treatment on Thursday morning. Himanshu Ram was getting married to Rekha Devi, resident of Bagaha Mirzapur. The wedding ceremony was being held at the groom’s house. At the time of garlanding, some members from the girl’s side quarrelled over a minor issue. The dispute escalated into a brawl. Himanshu’s uncle Bahadur Ram, who intervened, was found some time later, lying wounded near the house.The wound on his chest was inflicted with a sharp object. Rajatalab station in charge reached the spot and sent the injured to the Jakkhini Community Health Center for treatment. Later, he was referred to the divisional hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police said that on complaint of Bahdur Ram’s family members, case of attempted murder was lodged against four named persons at night and after the injured died this morning, the section of murder was added to the charges. One person named in the FIR was arrested by Rajatalab police and raids are being conducted to arrest the three absconding persons. DCP Gomti/Crime Neetu Kadyan inspected the scene of the incident, obtained information about the entire sequence of events from the family members, and gave directions for immediate arrest of the absconding accused.
