Man rescued after attempting suicide over EMI by jumping in Yamuna

New Delhi: A 30-year-old man jumped into the Yamuna in southeast Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj on Friday evening, reportedly after struggling to repay an ongoing EMI. He was rescued in a operation by Delhi Police and Boat Club personnel shortly after he entered the river.The man was located and pulled out of the water soon after. Police said he was in a stable condition and was provided necessary assistance as well as counselling.During subsequent inquiry, the man told police that he had attempted to die by suicide after being unable to keep up with the repayment of an EMI.The man reportedly works as a dance teacher and also takes up gardening work occasionally. He told officers that his income has been declining over the past few months, which pushed him to attempt to take the extreme step.
