New Delhi: A 32-year-old man posing as an IGI Airport employee allegedly lured a woman with a fake cabin crew job for her 20-year-old son and cheated her of around Rs 3 lakh through 16 UPI transactions. The accused was arrested Thursday.The scam came to light after police received a complaint from the woman, a resident of northeast Delhi’s Shiv Vihar, who claimed that she had come in contact with the man on social media in July 2024. He had then allegedly duped her under the pretext of security deposit, documentation charges and recruitment formalities for the job. A case was registered.“Based on technical evidence and sustained field verification, the accused, Rajeev Kumar, was traced and apprehended from Madhu Vihar, where he was working as a security guard at a quick e-commerce store,” said a senior police officer.Kumar told cops that he lured victims with promises of airport jobs before duping them, blocking them, deleting chats and destroying the SIM card used in the crime. Police said he spent the cheated money on personal expenses and debt repayment to evade detection.
