Gurgaon: A 55-year-old man cycling to work died when a private bus allegedly hit him near Mor Chowk, close to Agrawal Dharamshala, in the Civil Lines area on Sunday morning.The deceased, Parmeshwar Sahu, a native of Bhaktahi village in Bihar’s Madhubani district, was living in rented accommodation in Patel Nagar and worked as a labourer.According to police, Sahu left his house around 7.30 am on July 5 on his bicycle to report for work in Sector 9. He was cycling through Mor Chowk when a bus bearing registration number HR55X3333 allegedly hit his bicycle, causing Sahu to fall onto the road and sustain critical injuries.Soon after the accident, an Emergency Response Vehicle alerted Civil Lines police that a cyclist was hit by a bus and shifted to Govt Hospital, Sector 10A, for treatment.An investigating officer, accompanied by a constable, reached the hospital, where doctors examined the injured man and declared him brought dead. The deceased’s body was sent to the native village after autopsy on Sunday.During the proceedings, Rahul Gupta, the victim’s relative, submitted a written complaint alleging that the bus driver was driving rashly and negligently, requesting legal action against the bus driver.Police registered a case against the bus driver under sections 281 (rash or negligent driving on a public way) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.According to sources, police arrested the bus driver and later released him on bail.
