Man kills wife with lover’s help in Gandhinagar, both held

Ahmedabad: A man and his alleged lover were arrested on Friday for allegedly strangling his wife with a handkerchief at their rented accommodation in Sector 4A of Gandhinagar, police said. The woman was allegedly killed for objecting to their relationship.According to the police complaint, Sangeeta Thakor was allegedly strangled before 6am on Thursday at plot in Sector 4A. Her husband, Rohitji Thakor, and his alleged lover, Varsha Pargi, allegedly conspired to eliminate her.Sangeeta and Rohitji had been married since 2012 and have four children. Rohitji, a resident of Ogan village in Viramgam taluka of Ahmedabad district, had moved to Gandhinagar to prepare for competitive examinations, while his wife and children stayed in their native village.Rohitji allegedly met Pargi, a resident of Gadhada village in Fatepura taluka of Dahod district, at Mogal Library in Sector 2, where both went to study. Their acquaintance developed into a relationship, and they eventually began living together in a rented house in Sector 4A. Rohitji worked as an office assistant at a research facility in Bhat, while Pargi was employed as a receptionist, the complaint stated.Sangeeta after arriving in Gandhinagar with her children discovered the relationship. She objected to her husband’s involvement with Pargi, following which the two allegedly decided to kill her.The accused allegedly strangled Sangeeta while she was asleep. The family was subsequently informed that she had consumed poison and was being taken to hospital. However, she was declared dead on arrival. Marks on her neck raised suspicions about the circumstances of her death.A relative subsequently lodged a complaint, following which Sector 7 police registered a murder case against both accused. Police arrested Rohitji and Pargi on Friday. The case was registered under BNS sections pertaining to murder and criminal conspiracy.
