Guwahati: In a shocking incident of matricide, a middle-aged man was arrested for allegedly killing his mother following an argument over money to buy alcohol in Guwahati’s Kharguli area on Sunday, police said.The deceased was identified as Malati Boro and the accused as her son, Dwipen Boro. The duo lived at Nepali Chowk in Kharguli, where Malati’s body was found outside a shop on Sunday morning.A team from Latasil police station arrested Dwipen after he allegedly attempted to flee the scene.“The assault was carried out while the son was under the influence of alcohol. He is a habitual drinker and allegedly argued with his mother over money to buy alcohol. When she refused to give him the money, the argument escalated into a violent assault. During the investigation, we found multiple severe injury marks on the deceased’s body, indicating that she had been brutally assaulted,” Latasil police station officer-in-charge Jyotishman Neog said.Neog said local residents alerted police after learning about the incident.
