Hisar: A Hisar court here has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for luring a Class 11 student out of her house at night and raping her after taking her to Chandigarh by train. Additional district and sessions judge Sunil Jindal, while pronouncing the sentence, also imposed a fine of Rs 1.05 lakh on the convict.According to the prosecution, Narnaund police had registered a case under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections in 2022 on a complaint filed by the survivor. She told police that on the intervening night of May 9, 2022, while she was asleep at home, the accused knocked on her window and lured her outside.He first took her to his aunt’s house, then rode with her on a motorcycle to Rohtak, where he abandoned the bike near the railway station and boarded a train with her to Chandigarh. That evening, he raped her in a park in Chandigarh. On their way back, when the train halted at Jakhal railway station, the survivor mustered the courage to narrate the ordeal to the Railway Police.The police brought both of them from the station to Narnaund police station and informed her family, after which her statement was formally recorded. During questioning, the survivor also revealed that the accused had sexually assaulted her at her own home roughly two months before this incident and had subsequently been blackmailing her on the phone.Narnaund police arrested the accused and completed the investigation. Based on the evidence collected and the survivor’s statements, the case proceeded to trial. After hearing arguments, the court held the accused guilty under the POCSO Act and sentenced him to 20 years in prison along with the fine.
