Gurgaon: A man in police custody drove off with the vehicle in which he was being brought to Gurgaon for questioning while it was stopped for refuelling at a petrol pump in Garoth town of Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district on Monday.Taking cognisance of the incident, senior officers ordered departmental action against the police personnel involved — not only for the escape, but also because the team had used the complainant’s private vehicle during the operation.The vehicle belonged to the complainant in the case against the accused, identified as Prakash Razaq. He was wanted in connection with an FIR dated Jan 17, registered at Sector 14 police station under Section 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.After taking Razaq into custody, the team was escorting him to the city for questioning and further legal proceedings, when the incident happened. Razaq later abandoned the vehicle en route and fled further.An inquiry has been ordered against the Sector 14 station’s moharrir head constable and station house officer while a constable and a head constable involved in the operation have been placed under suspension for alleged negligence in the discharge of their duties.
