Times News NetworkChandigarh: A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a speeding car while crossing the road in the marble market area of Dhanas on Saturday. The victim died on the spot. Police said the deceased, Bibhash Kumar, a resident of Kachchi Colony, Dhanas, worked as a labourer. He is survived by his wife and three children.Sarangpur police registered a case against the driver under relevant sections of BNS and arrested him. The accused, Suraj Kumar, a resident of Mastgarh village in Punjab, was later released on bail.When Bibhash was crossing the road, a car coming from Mullanpur hit him. Eyewitnesses said the impact was severe, throwing the pedestrian into the air before he landed several metres away.Following the collision, the car went out of control and rammed into a roadside pole, leaving it badly damaged. The driver also sustained injuries in the crash. He was taken to PGI, Sector 12, with the help of a PCR vehicle but he died.
