Man held for murdering security guard in Turbhe, Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai: A man, on April 12, killed a 56-year-old security guard with a marble tile at Janata market in sector 23, Turbhe, after a verbal spat at 3 am. The accused was arrested by the APMC police within five hours.PSI Sagar Avhad said the victim was identified as Radhe Kishan, and the accused as Siddharth Mhaske, who was arrested from his residence in Indira Nagar slum in Turbhe MIDC area. Avhad said, “Kishan spotted Mhaske loitering in the marble lane and questioned his presence in the locality during the odd hours. Mhaske argued with the guard and turning violent, he picked up a marble tile near a store and hit on the guard’s head causing him severe injury. Mhaske fled the spot leaving the guard in a pool of blood. A worker at the nearby engineering unit identified as Vikas Shukla had witnessed the incident and informed APMC police station. Our police team on night patrolling reached the spot and rushed the injured guard to NMMC hospital in Vashi where he was declared brought dead.”A police team launched a manhunt and he was arrested after five hours at his residence in the slum pocket in Turbhe MIDC area. Mhaske has been remanded to magistrate custody remand and lodged at Taloja jail.
