Chennai: A 29-year-old man was arrested for sexually harassing a 65-year-old woman who was sleeping on the pavement in Ashok Nagar on Monday night.The woman, a widow who earns her living by stitching footwear, usually sleeps on the pavement. On Monday night, while she was asleep, Anand, a resident of T Nagar, approached her on his motorcycle after drinking liquor and sexually harassed her.The woman raised an alarm, urging motorists passing by to intervene. They caught Anand and thrashed him before handing him over to Ashok Nagar police.A case was registered against him under relevant sections of the law, including the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, and he was arrested.
