Gurgaon: A man was allegedly forced into a car by two men near Rampura Chowk, taken to Nawada village and assaulted before they robbed him of his gold chain, mobile phone and Rs 54,000. Police arrested the duo and found that they had rented the car for Rs 2,000 to carry out the robbery.The accused used the phone to withdraw around Rs 47,000 from the victim’s account, police said.“The victim, who works at a private company in Sector 26, was returning to his rented accommodation after finishing his shift around 5am on Sept 26 when the accused intercepted him near Rampura Chowk while he was heading towards Nakhrola village,” a police officer said. They allegedly forced him into a white car and drove him to Nawada.According to the complaint, the accused assaulted the man with a wooden stick inside the car and took his mobile phone, Rs 7,000 from his wallet and a gold chain. “They also obtained the password to his phone and withdrew around Rs 47,000 using it,” the officer added. The accused then abandoned him in Nawada.The victim later underwent a medical examination and approached police. A case was registered Monday at Kherki Daula police station on the basis of his complaint and medical report Monday.A joint team of Crime Branch Manesar and Kherki Daula police arrested two suspects, identified as Satish (30), a native of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, and Ravi Kishan alias Sumit (19), a native of Begusarai in Bihar, from Bhangrola village Monday.“During questioning, we found that Ravi Kishan had previously worked in Gurgaon but lost his job. He allegedly then planned the robbery with Satish, who drives an autorickshaw in the city,” police said. “The duo allegedly hired the car for Rs 2,000 to carry out the crime,” the officer further stated.Police recovered the car allegedly used in the robbery, the wooden stick and the victim’s mobile phone from the accused.The two men were produced in court Tuesday and remanded in police custody for a day. Police said they were questioning the accused to establish the full sequence of events and trace the money and other stolen property.
