Gurgaon: In a case exposing an alleged land-grabbing racket, a Pataudi court on Thursday directed police to register an FIR within 24 hours against four people, including a village nambardar, for allegedly forging documents and using an impostor to “resurrect” a man who had been dead for more than 54 years in order to usurp prime ancestral land.Judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) Deepak Jaglan passed the order while allowing an application filed under Section 175(3) of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The court observed that setting up an impostor to personate a dead person using fake statutory identity documents constituted a grave cognisable offence that could not simply be brushed aside as a civil dispute.According to the complaint, filed by Bhupender Sharma, Raj Kumar Sharma and Aarti Mehta, ancestral land measuring four kanal 14 marla in Pataudi had devolved upon their grandfather, Chamanlal, through a mutation carried out in 1957. Chamanlal died on Dec 15, 1970 — more than five decades before the disputed transactions. The complainants relied on official death certificates and revenue records to establish his death.The complaint alleges that an organised racket came into operation in early 2025. The accused allegedly created counterfeit Aadhaar and PAN cards in the name of a fictitious person, ‘Chamanram’, showing an address in Narela, Delhi. An impostor was then allegedly presented as the deceased Chamanlal and used to execute a registered sale deed on Jan 22, 2025, transferring the property to accused Parveen. Barely a month later, on Feb 25, 2025, Parveen allegedly transferred the property rights to her husband, Noor Hasan, through a transfer deed. Village nambardar Maman Singh allegedly colluded in the transactions by signing as an attesting witness to both disputed documents.The court pulled up police for failing to investigate the core allegations and instead merely preparing a preventive kalandra. JMFC Jaglan observed that an in-depth custodial and technical investigation was imperative to establish who had signed the documents, recover the allegedly fake identity documents, and uncover the larger conspiracy behind the transactions.The magistrate directed SHO of Pataudi police station to register an FIR under the appropriate sections of BNS and submit a compliance report. The matter has been listed for review on Sept 14, 2026.
