Man booked for duping investors of Rs 20 lakh

Margao: A Delhi-based man has been booked by the Margao town police for allegedly impersonating a representative of a Margao-based investment firm, collecting Rs 20 lakh from several investors on the promise of high returns, and siphoning the funds for personal use while using forged documents.Police said that the accused person, Hitesh Kumar Chakraworty, a resident of Bapraula in West Delhi, was known to the complainant, Jeet Jain, a resident of Aquem, Margao. Chakraworty projected himself as being associated with Jain’s company, Kastia Capital Pvt Ltd, and used the firm’s name and documents to lure investors.Police said Chakraworty induced a number of people to invest in the company on the promise of high returns, collected Rs 20 lakh from them and diverted the funds for his personal use.He further created forged documents and presented them as genuine to give investors the false impression that their money had indeed been transferred into Kastia Capital’s accounts.Margao town police have booked the accused person under Sections 318(4), 336(3) and 340 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
