Lucknow: Gudamba police arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly raping a woman on the false promise of marriage and later threatening and harassing her. The accused, Ajay Rawat, a resident of Rasulpur in Jankipuram, was arrested on Sitapur Road.Police said the woman lodged a complaint on Sept 5, following which an FIR was registered under Sections 69, 352, 115(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 67A of the IT Act.According to the complaint, Ajay allegedly established a physical relationship with the woman after assuring her of marriage. When she later pressed him to fulfil the promise, he allegedly assaulted and abused her, threatened to kill her and warned her that he would circulate her obscene photographs online.The probe, led by Inspector Bhanu Pratap Singh, found prima facie evidence against the accused. A police team subsequently tracked and arrested him.
