Ahmedabad: A 37-year-old man was arrested for allegedly placing online bets during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match from inside the Narendra Modi Stadium. Police said the action was taken during Monday’s match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians. A team on bandobast duty received information about a spectator engaged in live betting using a mobile phone. The accused was located at an upper-tier seating block inside the stadium. He was escorted to a parking area, where he was questioned in the presence of witnesses.The accused was logged into a betting website and was placing wagers on the ongoing match. Screenshots of the betting interface and transactions were taken as evidence. Police seized a cellphone and a match ticket from the accused. A case has been registered under the Gujarat Prevention of Gambling Act. tnn
