Hyderabad: Despite women constituting a larger share of the electorate across Telangana, male voters outnumber female voters within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits by more than 63,000, according to data released ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. As per the data, GHMC has a total electorate of 47.36 lakh voters, of which 23.96 lakh are men, accounting for 50.6 per cent of the voter base. Female voters number 23.36 lakh, representing 49.3 per cent of the electorate. The draft electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on July 31. Of the total voters, only 22.09 lakh have been mapped so far, leaving more than 25.27 lakh electors yet to be linked during the revision process. The SIR exercise is set to begin on June 25. However, political parties have so far appointed less than half of the required Booth Level Agents (BLAs). Of the 25,657 BLAs expected to participate in the exercise, only 10,901 have been appointed. Among the major political parties, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) are lagging in BLA appointments. As part of the SIR, house-to-house distribution of Enumeration Forms (EFs) will be carried out from June 25 to July 24. GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit every household and distribute duplicate copies of the enumeration forms containing pre-printed details of existing electors. BLOs will also assist voters in filling out the forms and updating the information through the BLO application.Karnan said that if a house is found locked during the visit, BLOs will leave the enumeration forms at the premises and make at least three subsequent visits to collect the completed forms. In cases where electors submit their forms online through the Enumeration Form portal, BLOs will verify the details during their household visits. Only electors who submit duly filled and signed enumeration forms to the BLOs will be included in the draft electoral rolls, he said.“Voters who fail to submit the forms will not find their names in the draft rolls. Following the publication of the draft electoral rolls, the names of electors who are not included will be displayed on the notice boards of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), at other prominent locations, and on the websites of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and the Election Commission of India (ECI). The EROs will subsequently issue notices to individuals whose records could not be linked or where discrepancies are found during the verification and mapping process,” Karnan added.
