Thane: As many as 2,514 patients in Thane district received financial assistance of Rs 21.7 crore under the chief minister’s medical assistance fund in 2025-26, officials said.The fund supports eligible patients who are unable to avail benefits under other govt health schemes. Measures such as a district-level cell, paperless applications and faster approvals have improved access and transparency. Assistance covers treatment for 20 serious conditions, including transplants, cancer care, dialysis, accident injuries and neonatal ailments. The medical aid cell is headed by Rameshwar Naik. A tripartite CSR agreement between the CM Relief Cell, BPCL Foundation and Tata Memorial Centre aims to support paediatric cancer treatment. Statewide, 40,776 patients received Rs 333 crore during the same period.Applicants must have an annual income of up to Rs 1.2 lakh and possess an orange ration card etc to be eligible, a cell member said.
