Maharashtra: Fire breaks out at dyeing unit in Badlapur, no one hurt

Thane: A major fire broke out at a dyeing unit in Badlapur in Thane district on Friday afternoon at 4 pm, causing extensive damage to property. No one was hurt in the incident, a civic official said. “The flames spread rapidly across the premises, fuelled by a large stock of cloth materials and chemical drums stored inside the facility. Five fire engines were deployed. While the blaze caused extensive property damage, a major disaster was averted as all workers managed to escape unhurt,” he said. After a one-hour operation, the blaze was surrounded, ending the possibility of it spreading to other units in the vicinity, the official said. “The cause of the fire is being ascertained,” he said.
