Mumbai: Between June 1 and 5, the state Food and Drug Administration carried out 195 raids across the state that resulted in seizure of banned goods worth around Rs 2 crore and the arrest of 192 people.Most of the raids were carried out in the Konkan division, with 79 raids conducted and 78 people arrested.These raids are part of a special campaign launched by new FDA commissioner Tukaram Mundhe against banned gutkha, pan masala and tobacco products. Continuous action is also being taken in Mumbai, Konkan, Nagpur and Amravati regions.According to departmental data, 30 raids were carried out in Mumbai, 15 in Nagpur and nine in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. A total of 123 FIRs have been registered across the state.
