Maharashtra environment department to partner with Mumbai Climate Week 2027
The department and Project Mumbai, which organises the climate week, signed an MoU on September 2 to strengthen coordination between the state government and stakeholders involved in climate action in the city.

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra environment and climate change department will be the nodal government partner for the second edition of Mumbai Climate Week (MCW), to be held from February 23 to 26, 2027, at the Jio Convention Centre.The department and Project Mumbai, which organises the climate week, signed an MoU on September 2 to strengthen coordination between the state government and stakeholders involved in climate action in the city.Under the agreement, the department will act as the nodal partner agency of the Maharashtra government and as a knowledge partner to Project Mumbai.It will facilitate coordination with government departments and agencies, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).The department will also facilitate time-bound meetings between MCW theme leads and relevant ministers, commissioners and secretaries of the state government.A key focus of the partnership will be to link discussions and thematic work at MCW with government agencies working on the ground.The 2027 edition will focus on issues including urban resilience, food systems, energy transition, biodiversity and circularity.The event will also examine the intersection of climate change with areas such as literature, food, sports, cinema and healthcare.Environment and climate change minister Pankaja Munde said the partnership would help bring governments, businesses, civil society, experts and citizens together to advance climate action and strengthen the resilience of Maharashtra and India.Project Mumbai CEO and founder and MCW chief convenor Shishir Joshi said the partnership would help ensure that discussions at the event translate into ideas, partnerships and solutions with a lasting impact.The MoU is expected to strengthen the institutional framework for MCW 2027 and create greater alignment between Mumbai’s climate-action ecosystem and the Maharashtra government.
