Filed by NidhiLudhiana: The work on e bus depots at Hambran Road and Ghoda Colony is going slow and without completion of these e-bus depots, the buses will not reach the city. The officials claimed that it would take time at Ghoda Colony due to certain reasons and work is going at the site.The city is expected to receive the delivery of 100 e-buses in the coming days under the ‘PM e-bus Sewa Scheme’. E-bus depot for 30 buses is being established at Hambran Road and at Ghoda Colony, the depot is being established for 70 e-buses. The officials shared that they were expecting that work at Hambran Road bus depot would get completed in sometime but at Ghoda Colony they are yet to clear some old vehicles that belong to the police and tehbazaari branch, therefore, they would require two additional months for completion of the project.One of the MC officials shared that as the buses were to be provided through the Central government and the tenders were also floated by the government, but they were trying to at least get their e-bus depots ready before the delivery of the vehicles.Meanwhile MC commissioner Ojasvi Alankar inspected the ongoing works to establish e-bus depots at Hambran Road and Ghoda Colony. The aim of the visit was to take stock of the ongoing works and ensure that the projects were completed within stipulated time period.He shared that at Ghoda Colony, work was slow so he had directed the officials concerned to coordinate with the police department and tehbazaari wing of the civic body for removal of their belongings kept there. He added that it was a major project to encourage public transport and senior officials had been directed to monitor the progress on a regular basis. He said officials concerned and the contractor had been directed to speed up the works and there should be no compromise with the work quality.It was in 2023 that the city was selected under the ‘PM E Bus Sewa Yojna’, and since then, the civic officials have been preparing the estimates. Along with Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Patiala were also selected under this scheme in Punjab.
