Ludhiana: With Phase II of Census 2027 approaching, senior officials Monday reviewed Ludhiana’s preparedness for the population enumeration exercise, directing departments to complete all pending tasks within prescribed timelines.The review meeting was chaired by Navjot Khosa, director, census operations, Punjab, and attended by deputy commissioner-cum-principal census officer Himanshu Jain, MC principal census officer Ojasvi Alankar, ADC Shikha Bhagat, SDMs, tehsildars and other census officers.Khosa lauded district officials for the timely completion of Phase I, comprising the House Listing and Housing Census, and stressed the need for seamless coordination and advance planning for the next phase.A roadmap for Phase II was discussed, with officials asked to ensure all administrative and logistical arrangements are in place for smooth population enumeration.Reviewing progress on the District Census Handbook (DCHB), Khosa directed charge officers to expedite the compilation and verification of village and town directory data, along with related mapping work, and complete the exercise by Sept 8.Deputy commissioner Himanshu Jain assured full support from the district administration and the municipal corporation for timely completion of census-related work and accurate data collection in line with guidelines issued by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India.
