Ludhiana district among Punjab’s worst performers

Ludhiana: All is not well for Class X students of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) in Ludhiana, where the overall pass percentage stands at 89.20%.Official data indicates that Ludhiana is the only district in Punjab with a pass percentage below 90%, cementing its dubious distinction of being among the worst performers in the state.Of the 36,872 regular students who appeared in the exams, 32,888 cleared them, resulting in a pass percentage of just 89.20%.In contrast, Punjab’s five border districts — Amritsar, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur — have secured positions among the top five performers in the state.Amritsar emerged as the highest-ranked district, with 26,022 of the 26,443 students who appeared clearing the exams, translating into a pass percentage of 98.41%.In Ferozepur, 9,184 out of 9,334 students cleared the exam, recording a pass percentage of 98.39%. Pathankot registered a pass percentage of 97.99%, with 5,716 of the 5,833 students passing the exams.In Tarn Taran, 12,402 of the 12,662 students who appeared cleared the exam, resulting in a pass percentage of 97.95%, while Gurdaspur recorded a pass percentage of 97.84%.In the academic year 2024–25, 38,387 students from Ludhiana appeared for the Class X PSEB (regular) examination. Of these, 36,573 cleared the exam, giving the district a pass percentage of 95.27%.
