Lucknow’s naval museum to add water attractions, ship replicas

Lucknow: City’s tourism portfolio is set to expand with naval ship replicas, boating and immersive digital exhibits as the Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Friday approved an expansion proposal for the Navy Museum in Gomti Nagar Extension.The cabinet cleared the use of 6.8 acres for a water body as part of the expansion. The land, adjoining the existing museum complex, will be transferred by the LDA to the tourism department for a token payment of Rs 1 lakh.The expansion is planned as a three-phase project that began in 2025 and is scheduled for completion in 2027. Plans for the proposed water body include naval ship replicas, boating facilities, light and sound shows, and displays focused on marine biodiversity and aquatic life. Tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh said the initiative aims to make history, science and technology more engaging for younger visitors, while also supporting local employment and tourism-linked businesses.The upcoming Curation and Experience Centre will add digital galleries, audiovisual presentations, interactive exhibits and simulations tracing India’s maritime journey from ancient trade to modern naval operations and indigenous defence technologyThe cabinet also approved ticketed entry with concessions for students and schoolchildren.
