Lucknow sisters dance their way to glory at Glasgow CWG closing ceremony

Lucknow: Bharatanatyam dancer-choreographer sisters Shachi Biswas (30) and Chinmoyee Biswas (25) brought laurels to the city with a captivating performance in a group dance staged at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2026 at Glasgow.The sisters, daughters of Dr Chittaranjan Biswas and Dr Savita Biswas, represented India as part of renowned choreographer Shiamak Davar’s ensemble. They were selected from among 120 artistes through a nationwide audition, making their presence on the global stage a matter of pride for Lucknow.Expressing his joy, Dr Chittaranjan said, “It is unbelievable for me that my daughters are performing on an international stage. For a moment, I could not believe my eyes.”Recalling their journey, Dr Savita said, “Both Chinmoyee and Shachi started dancing at the age of four. Initially, as doctors, we wanted them to pursue medicine, but their unwavering dedication convinced us to support their dream.”
