Lucknow: The Lucknow University Associated Colleges Teachers’ Association (LUACTA) has urged chief minister Yogi Adityanath to address 20 pending demands of higher education teachers in Uttar Pradesh, including restoration of the old pension scheme and an increase in the retirement age from 62 to 65 years. LUACTA president Manoj Pandey said, “We thank the chief minister for addressing some long-pending demands. However, several issues related to teachers’ promotions, pension and service conditions remain unresolved. We request govt to intervene and ensure timely action on these demands.”The association has sought gratuity benefits, cashless medical facilities for retired teachers and regularisation of teachers working in self-financed courses in aided colleges. It has also demanded that past service of ad hoc teachers be counted for promotions under the Career Advancement Scheme. Other demands include implementing UGC promotion rules, online processing of pension and provident fund cases, medical and childcare leave, paternity leave, release of National Pension System grants and removal of procedural hurdles in transfers.
