Jaisalmer: Lt Gen Rajesh Pushkar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of Southern Command, visited Jaisalmer Military Station Thursday, marking his first visit to Battle Axe Division since assuming his new role. The visit aimed to assess operational preparedness, technology absorption, and capability enhancements within the division.Accompanied by Maj Gen Ashish Khurana, GOC of Battle Axe Division, Lt Gen Pushkar was briefed on the division’s combat readiness, innovative training methodologies, and ongoing modernisation initiatives in the strategically crucial desert sector.A key focus was on the integration of modern technologies into military operations. The army commander inspected the division’s Centre of Excellence and Drone & Robotics Laboratory, where initiatives related to unmanned systems and emerging battlefield technologies were highlighted.Emphasising the need for technological innovation, Lt Gen Pushkar encouraged commanders and troops to refine their warfighting capabilities to tackle evolving security challenges. He noted that the adoption of advanced systems would be vital for enhancing Indian Army’s effectiveness in future conflicts.Additionally, Lt Gen Pushkar visited the historic Longewala Yudh Sthal, paying tribute to the valiant soldiers from the 1971 Indo-Pak War. He laid floral wreaths at the memorial, honouring their heroic sacrifices that inspire current generations to uphold national sovereignty.Concluding his visit, he presented On-the-Spot Commendations to select personnel for exemplary performance, reaffirming the division’s commitment to operational excellence and high standards of professionalism. Lt Gen Pushkar urged all ranks to maintain focus on mission preparedness, embrace technological advancements, and continue Indian Army’s traditions of excellence.
