Rajkot: A 30-year-old man was hacked to death and his nephew injured after four armed men allegedly rammed their motorcycle with a car and attacked them in broad daylight in Amreli district’s Ingorala village on Wednesday.Police said the murder was driven by a grudge over the victim’s love marriage.According to an FIR lodged with Khambha police by eyewitness Gautam Vala, the victim, Jayraj Dhakhda, was riding a motorcycle with his nephew, Shaktiraj, when a car rammed into them from behind, causing both to fall on the road. Four men got out of the car armed with a sword, iron pipes and an axe. The main accused, Mayur Varu of Jafrabad, struck Jayraj twice on the head with a sword, while his three unidentified accomplices assaulted him with iron pipes and an axe. During the attack, the assailants taunted Jayraj over his marriage.When Shaktiraj tried to rescue his uncle, one of the attackers hit him on the arm with an iron pipe. The accused then threatened the duo with dire consequences before fleeing in the car.According to police, Jayraj had eloped with a woman about six to eight months ago. The woman was previously engaged to Mayur, who allegedly nursed a grudge after the engagement was called off and she married Jayraj.The injured were rushed to the government hospital in Khambha, where doctors declared Jayraj dead on arrival. Shaktiraj is undergoing treatment for his injuries.
