Hisar: The Lohgarh link minor in Sirsa district breached twice in eight days, flooding paddy fields even as farmers at the canal’s tail end complained of inadequate irrigation water.Farmers alleged that repeated complaints had failed to resolve the problem, leaving some fields waterlogged while others remained deprived of their share of canal water.Farmers Dilaur Singh, Bhal Inder Singh, Baljit Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Sudhir Kumar, Gurlal Singh, Angrej Singh and Mitthu Kamboj said blocked outlets and the minor’s tail end caused water to overflow on Thursday. A fresh breach developed opposite the earlier breach site, eroding the soil and flooding a nearby paddy field. An irrigation department official attributed the breaches to the channel’s poor condition and ageing lining, which had led to seepage.Repairs have been carried out and water released into the minor again, the official said.
