Gandhinagar: State Congress president Amit Chavda on Sunday released the party’s ‘vision document’ and theme song for the upcoming local body elections in Gujarat. The vision document is based on five basic principles of inclusivity, citizen services, transparent governance, accountability and affordable living, the party said.Speaking to reporters, Chavda said that development in Gujarat’s cities should not just be about buildings or roads but should enhance the standard of living. Citizens pay high taxes and should receive better facilities in return, he said. He added that free city bus service for women, dignified employment for street vendors, and a street vendor policy to free them from extortion will be implemented in Gujarat’s cities if the party is voted to power. “Proper drainage for rainwater, cleanliness, modern waste management, and creating a pollution-free green city are key commitments of the Congress. Every expense will be publicly accounted for, citizens will be able to access information about every work through a digital tracking system, and strict action will be taken against corruption,” he added.
