Lucknow: House tax defaulters in the city will soon get a chance to clear their pending dues under a one-time settlement (OTS) scheme, which the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) will implement from Aug 15 to Dec 15 following directions from the UP govt.The scheme will cover pending house tax, water tax and sewer tax dues up to April 1, 2026. It will apply to residential, commercial, industrial, govt, semi-govt and public sector properties within the LMC limits.Under the scheme, taxpayers, who pay the principal outstanding amount, will get a waiver or concession on accumulated interest and surcharge as per the prescribed rules.LMC will also allow payment in three instalments for taxpayers with dues exceeding Rs 1 lakh. Such applicants will have to deposit one-third of the outstanding amount while applying under the scheme and pay the remaining amount in two monthly instalments within the scheme period.Applications can be submitted both online and offline. The civic body will set up help desks to assist taxpayers and facilitate the application process.LMC officials said that the OTS scheme is aimed at improving recovery of long-pending tax dues, reducing litigation and strengthening the financial position of the corporation while providing relief to taxpayers.
