Bhilwara: A 35-year-old lineman died after being electrocuted at an industrial unit in Ajoliya ka Kheda under Gangrar police station area of Chittorgarh district Sunday. A second worker was also injured in the same incident and is under treatment at a govt hospital.Police said Omprakash Menaria, a resident of Suwania, had gone to the marble processing unit to check an electrical fault after receiving an online complaint. While at work on a transformer, a return current from a solar power plant gave him a severe electrical shock, they added.Factory worker Jagdish Gurjar also came in contact with the current and was left with injuries. Both were taken to the Chittorgarh district hospital, where doctors declared Menaria dead, and Gurjar was admitted for treatment.The deceased man’s family members initially refused a post-mortem, claiming he was left with his injuries at the scene of the incident for over two hours, and alleging that the factory management delayed taking him to the hospital.They demanded compensation and punitive action against the industrial unit’s owner.It was reportedly agreed during later negotiations to provide the family with Rs 12 lakh in financial assistance, besides pension, a compassionate appointment and other eligible benefits. The family subsequently agreed to the post-mortem.Police said the cause of death and the family’s allegations against the factory management are under investigation.
