Ghaziabad: Over 6,000 residents of several apartment complexes in Raj Nagar Extension have raised concerns over a severely damaged 300-metre road that has seen no substantial repairs for over five years. The poor condition causes daily commuting problems, particularly during the monsoon when waterlogging hides potholes and makes the road hazardous.The affected residential complexes include Mahesha Monk Monastery, VVIP Mangal, VVIP Addresses and Devika Skypers. Gaurav Ralhan, a resident of Mahesha Monk Monastery, said. “People often fall on roads due to the big potholes. Anyone new to the area faces a serious risk of an accident,” he stated, highlighting the dangers posed by the road’s condition.Residents said that while minor patchwork repairs have been attempted, they last only a few months.The waste disposal system in the area remains inadequate too, according to Anuj Tyagi, another resident. He said garbage is frequently dumped in vacant lots along a road stretch near a gym, with no regular cleaning or waste collection in sight. “This area is becoming a serious health hazard,” Tyagi warned.The area, which has seen a surge in residential development since 2010, from the low-rise 40-unit Mahesha Monk Monastery to the 2,334-flat VVIP Addresses and the high-rise VVIP Mangal and Devika Skypers, is now being overshadowed by crumbling infrastructure.With growing traffic congestion and safety concerns, residents are calling for immediate action from local authorities. “Driving in the evening has become torture for residents,” Ralhan stressed, urging GDA to find a permanent solution to these pressing issues.While residents wait for better roads, GDA officials claim plans are underway to improve the living conditions in Raj Nagar Extension soon.
