Noida: More than 20,000 residents of highrises in Sector 1 in Greater Noida West have been facing severe inconvenience due to deteriorating roads and waterlogging during the monsoon. Residents said poor roads and inadequate drainage have plagued the area for two years, leaving it vulnerable to flooding after almost every spell of rain. When rainwater recedes, the roads are left a slippery, muddy mess, they added.“Every time it rains, it turns into a nightmare. First, the entire road, which is muddy and broken due to heavy construction around, gets flooded for hours, and later, when the water recedes, the muddy sludge is left, leaving the stretch slippery and prone to accidents. The roads overflow with muddy water, making it nearly impossible for vehicles and pedestrians to navigate safely,” Sanjeev Pundhir, AOA member of Ace Divino in Sector 1, said.On Monday, too, showers left roads in the sector flooded. The lack of proper drainage and constant waterlogging has led to deep potholes and deteriorating roads. Such conditions not only inconvenience commuters but also raise the risk of accidents, residents said.

Pundhir has urged GNIDA to take immediate action to fix the road near Ace Divino and DG Builder. Pundhir said residents have filed several complaints, urging repairs to the roads and proper drainage, but no action has been taken so far.Siddharth Shukla, another AOA member of Ace Divino society, urged the Authority to treat the road work as a priority. “Due to continuous construction work and heavy traffic, the road here has deteriorated significantly, causing inconvenience to local residents,” Shukla said.Lack of a reliable drainage system in such a densely populated area is a serious cause for concern, residents said. They demanded a thorough inspection of the area, repair of the damaged roads, and a permanent drainage solution to manage the rainwater effectively.“We are asking for a sustainable solution so that thousands of residents can live without fear of flooding during the rainy season,” said Pundhir.Another resident said, “It’s disheartening that despite living in a developed locality, we have to endure such primitive conditions during the rains. Our safety and daily commute are at stake.”A response from GNIDA is awaited.
