Gurgaon: The city recorded a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius on Saturday, five notches below normal for this time of the year. At the AWS station, the maximum temperature rose to 35 degrees Celsius from 33.5 degrees Celsius recorded on Friday. The KVK observatory recorded 35.1 degrees Celsius, up from 34 degrees Celsius the day before. The NorthCap University monitoring station recorded the highest daytime temperature in the city at 37 degrees Celsius, compared to 35.5 degrees Celsius on Friday.Meanwhile, the minimum temperature settled at 20.6 degrees Celsius, marginally higher than Friday’s 19.3 degrees Celsius.Despite temperatures staying below normal, weather conditions remained warm during the afternoon. IMD said the city is likely to witness a gradual rise in temperatures over the coming days, with maximum temperatures expected to increase by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius over the next week across Haryana.Though weather conditions are expected to remain largely dry over the next 24 hours, IMD has forecast the possibility of light to moderate rain at isolated places in the state between May 11 and May 14. Light rain activity is likely in the city from Monday night and may continue into Tuesday at isolated locations, although no official alert has been issued for the city so far.According to IMD, the prevailing conditions are being influenced by multiple weather systems active over north India. A western disturbance, currently seen as a cyclonic circulation, lies over east Bihar and adjoining areas. Another upper air cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab and Rajasthan has now shifted towards central Rajasthan. In addition, a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from Sunday onward, which could trigger scattered rainfall and thunderstorm activity over parts of northwest India.“Thunderstorm and lightning activity accompanied by gusty winds of 40-50 kmph is likely at isolated places in Haryana between May 11 and May 14. Districts including Chandigarh, Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Panipat and Sonipat are likely to witness weather activity during this period,” IMD said.For Sunday, the department has predicted a partly cloudy sky with minimum and maximum temperatures expected to hover around 25 and 39 degrees Celsius.
