New Delhi: Delhi govt has told all schools to implement several child safety measures, including mandatory staff training, stricter compliance checks and coordinated inspections, and set up child protection committees in all 5,633 schools across the capital by the end of July.The aim is to strengthen the protection of students with a better implementation of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.The directions were issued after lieutenant governor TS Sandhu and chief minister Rekha Gupta reviewed work done by the education department, police and the department of women and child development Monday.All schools have been asked to complete training and capacity building for master trainers. They have also been instructed to submit compliance certificates based on a student safety checklist and operationalise an SOP for POCSO cases.Inspection teams will be formed to conduct checks across schools.s.“These efforts should become a permanent feature of every institution,” Gupta said.
