Leopard trapped in cage in Bhinai to be rehabilitated in jungle

Ajmer: A leopard that killed three goats in Udaikheda village of Bhinai block of the district was trapped in cage of the forest dept Wednesday. The dept, after the medical exam of the wild cat, will rehabilitate it in the jungle.According to villagers, the leopard was seen many times in the area last week, and the wild cat attacked a barn that housed 14 goats Monday night. On Tuesday, a team of the forest dept reached the village. They found the paw prints of the leopard in the area and put a cage on the way to the village. The team increased the vigilance, and on Tuesday evening the road to the village remained deserted.Forest officials said that Wednesday morning when they checked the cage, a leopard was found trapped in it. The leopard is male, about 2 years of age and was found in good health, the officials said. The leopards came out from the catchment area of the leopard reserve at Todgarh in Beawar district, in search of food and territory, they said. Om Prakesh Meena, station house officer, Bhinai, said, “There was terror among the villagers. Police was deputed to control the situation and to ensure that no one attack the caged leopard. The forest dept took away the cage.”
