Amreli: A three-year-old boy was killed after a leopard entered a farm in the Khambhala area of Sanosari village in Gir Gadhada taluka and carried him away from a 10-foot-high verandah of a room where his family was staying.The boy, identified as Chetan, was the son of a Madhya Pradesh-based labourer family working on the farm. According to the information available, the leopard climbed onto the approximately 10-foot-high verandah at night, picked up the child and carried him to a nearby part of the farm, where it attacked him and dragged him away.The body was found about 30 minutes after the attack. Around 1am, the leopard was also caged.Officials said the family had come to the village two months ago to work as farm labourers.The incident triggered panic in the area and a team from the Jashadhar forest range rushed to the spot. The leopard was reportedly captured within about an hour of the incident.Chetan’s body was shifted to Gir Gadhada hospital for postmortem.
