Mumbai: An adult leopard was seen on CCTV footage attacking a dog inside the IIT-Bombay campus in Powai in the wee hours of Friday.A resident lecturer informed that the leopard came inside a staff hostel at around 2.30 am and attacked a local community dog, and later dragged it away towards the bushes. No humans were harmed in this incident. The honorary wildlife warden and founder of RAWW NGO, Pawan Sharma, said: “We will have to get further details about this leopard sighting from the campus security. Leopards are often sighted at the Powai campus over the years because the Sanjay Gandhi National Park is quite close by.”Sharma added that they are in regular touch with the IIT-B administration in order to advise them about various precautions to be taken in case of a human-wildlife encounter.Earlier this year, a leopard was also seen at Raheja Heights complex in Dindoshi, and at Wagle industrial estate in Thane.Leopards often come out towards human settlements late at night in order to hunt for food.
