Pune: The Chandannagar police on Friday arrested a lawyer, his wife and daughter on the charge of bludgeoning the lawyer’s secretary to death.The wife had suspected that the lawyer was in an illicit relationship with his secretary. When the secretary did not return home and her number was not reachable, her husband began searching for her.The accused on Thursday bludgeoned the woman to death with a bat and a blunt object inside the lawyer’s office at Chandannagar and put the body in a gunny bag. On Friday morning, her husband went to the lawyer’s office and saw his wife’s body inside the gunny bag. He immediately alerted the Chandannagar police.A police team led by senior police inspector Nilesh Badakh took the lawyer and his daughter into custody, while the crime branch arrested the lawyer’s wife.Badakh said during the interrogation, the trio admitted to murdering the woman. On Thursday afternoon, the lawyer’s wife and daughter tied the woman’s legs with a rope inside the office. “The trio then bludgeoned her to death with a bat and a blunt object. They put the body into a gunny bag and left the office,” Badakh said.He said the trio has been arrested under Sections 103 (murder), 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. “Our investigations are on,” he said.
