Laser beams, artificial lights banned within 27km of Noida airport

Noida: Authorities have prohibited the use of laser beams and other forms of artificial lighting within a 27-km radius of the Noida International Airport to strengthen aviation safety.District magistrate Medha Roopam on Wednesday said the restriction has been imposed in accordance with the provisions of the Aircraft Act, 2024, Aircraft Rules, 1937, and the relevant notification issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. “The restricted zone will cover the use of all artificial lights that could potentially distract pilots or interfere with aircraft operations,” she said.“The use of lasers or other artificial lights without permission within the 27-kilometre radius of Noida International Airport is a violation of aviation safety regulations. Such activities can pose a serious risk to aircraft and passengers, and strict legal action will be taken against those found violating the rules,” DM said.The administration has also asked residents, event organisers, commercial establishments and other entities operating within the designated zone to strictly comply with the restrictions.Officials have also appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration and ensure that celebrations, events and displays do not compromise aviation safety. The move is aimed at preventing incidents involving bright or focused lights that may affect pilots during aircraft take-off, landing or flight operations near the airport.
