JAIPUR: A 32-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner, who buried her body in the garden of their rented house in Jaipur before fleeing, after the landlord discovered a woman’s hand protruding from freshly dug soil on Sunday, police said.The incident came to light when the landlord went to inspect the rented premises in Prestige Colony in the Bindayaka area.The house was locked, and on checking the property, he noticed that the soil in the garden appeared to have been freshly dug.After making inquiries with neighbours, the landlord examined the area and spotted a woman’s hand protruding from the ground, following which he alerted police.Bindayaka Station House Officer Anil Kumar said the house had been rented around two months ago by Pravesh, 22, who had introduced the woman, Kiran, as his wife. Both were from Uttar Pradesh.According to a preliminary police assessment, Pravesh allegedly killed Kiran two to three days ago, dug a pit in the garden at night and buried her body.He then locked the house and fled, the SHO said.Police later exhumed the body with the help of a forensic team and sent it for post-mortem examination at Kanwatia Hospital.Police said Pravesh worked at a factory in Bindayaka. Teams have been formed to trace him, while efforts are also being made to contact the woman’s family in Uttar Pradesh.The motive behind the murder and other circumstances of the case are under investigation, police said.(With PTI inputs)
