Gurgaon: Two days after the arrest of a man for allegedly driving a Lamborghini recklessly on Dwarka Expressway, police on Thursday said the accused had changed the colour of his car to avoid identification.Police said 24-year-old Pranav Manchanda, a resident of Palm Springs Golf Course and managing director of Standard Castings Pvt Ltd, was arrested on Tuesday by a team from Rajendra Park police station after investigators traced the luxury sports car seen in a month-old video that surfaced on social media earlier this month. Police said Manchanda was later granted bail in the case.The clip shows a golden-coloured Lamborghini Huracán Evo RWD speeding along Dwarka Expressway at night, rapidly accelerating, changing lanes repeatedly and overtaking other vehicles while another moving vehicle filmed the drive. Police said the manner of driving posed a serious risk to other commuters, prompting the department to take suo motu cognisance of the incident.During the investigation, police found that the accused had the car wrapped in a different colour earlier this month, allegedly in an attempt to evade detection after the video was widely circulated on social media. “Despite the modification, investigators were able to establish the identity of both the vehicle and the driver through technical and other evidence,” a senior police officer said.The officer added that the accused also got the new colour updated in the vehicle’s registration certificate after obtaining permission from the sub-divisional magistrate.An FIR was registered at Rajendra Park police station under sections 184 (dangerous driving) and 189 (racing and trials of speed) of the Motor Vehicles Act, along with sections 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 281 (rash driving on a public way) of BNS.The Lamborghini was seized as part of the investigation, police said, adding that they have also found several other videos of the same car on city roads. “We have found some more videos of the car. We are examining them and will take necessary action if required,” a police officer said.According to the company’s website, Standard Castings Pvt Ltd supplies aviation turbine fuel across the country and manufactures special-purpose vehicles, including for the Indian armed forces, besides catering to other industrial sectors.“We are continuously monitoring videos circulating on social media and complaints received from the public. Anyone found performing stunts, racing or driving in a manner that endangers other road users will face strict legal action,” the officer said.Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged modification of the vehicle, the officer said.
