Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao said that the extent of corruption and irregularities in Telangana is now being exposed not merely by the opposition parties, but openly by ruling Congress party MLAs. He said he fully agreed with the remarks made by Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy and said even the ruling party leaders were compelled to make allegations of corruption against the govt and its senior leadership itself demonstrated how badly governance had deteriorated in Telangana.Speaking to media at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday, KTR said that for a long time, the Congress govt had dismissed allegations of corruption and irregularities made by opposition parties as mere political criticism. However, he said, the same allegations were now being raised by MLAs belonging to the ruling Congress party. He said it was not an ordinary development for a ruling party MLA to publicly raise allegations of corruption against the government’s top leadership, and that it reflected the seriousness of the situation prevailing in the state.KTR alleged that the Telangana Congress had been turned into an ATM for Rahul Gandhi and the AICC. He recalled that PM Narendra Modi, during his visits to Telangana, had also alleged that the Telangana state had been turned into an ATM for the AICC. On the one hand, the PM of the country himself was alleging that Telangana had become an ATM for the AICC, while on the other hand, ruling Congress MLAs were raising questions over corruption in the State, KTR said.“Why the Central govt was not taking action when allegations that Telangana had been turned into an ATM for the AICC were being made at the level of the Prime Minister. Merely making allegations of corruption during elections or on political platforms would serve no purpose for the people. If there was substance in the allegations, the Central investigating agencies should conduct an impartial investigation and bring the facts before the people,” he demanded.Revanth Reddy Is Working 18 Hours Not for Telangana: KTRKTR strongly criticised CM Revanth Reddy for repeatedly claiming that he works for 18 hours a day. He alleged that the CM was not working those 18 hours for Telangana, but for the benefit of his family members, brothers, brothers-in-law, son-in-law and followers by allegedly facilitating land, contracts and public funds for them.“The Chief Minister says he is working 18 hours a day and asks people to vote for him. But he is not working those 18 hours for Telangana,” KTR said.He said it was a matter of serious concern that allegations were being made that the state’s wealth, lands, government contracts and public funds were being diverted for the benefit of the Chief Minister’s family, relatives and followers instead of being utilised in the interests of the people.KTR advised the Congress govt to introspect over its failures on corruption, public welfare, government schemes and the rights of the youth. He demanded that the govt fulfil the promises made to the people and continue the welfare schemes that had already been implemented.On Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak schemes, he said scrapping programmes introduced by the previous govt had effectively become one of the main activities of the Congress government, while it had failed to introduce even new welfare programmes that genuinely benefited the people.KTR said poor people, farmers, women and students were suffering because existing welfare schemes were not being continued properly and their benefits were not reaching the intended beneficiaries.
