Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused the Congress govt of ignoring the promises made to Dalits during the assembly elections. He said the Congress had promised Rs 12 lakh for Dalit families, while the BRS govt provided Rs 10 lakh under the Dalit Bandu scheme. He alleged that, even after being in power for over two years, the Cong govt has not even released ‘12 paise’. He added that their fight, inspired by Dr BR Ambedkar, would continue until the implementation of the Chevella SC/ST declaration, along with the BC and farmers’ declarations.KTR, along with party MLAs, MLCs and other leaders, took out a rally from Telangana Bhavan to the Ambedkar statue at Necklace Road. Addressing the media, he said that the world’s largest Ambedkar statue was erected with great pride by former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. He added that the state of Telangana was achieved based on Ambedkar’s principle of “Educate, Agitate, Organise.” To honour Ambedkar not just in words but through actions, the previous BRS govt established 1,000 Gurukul schools for Dalit children and named the state secretariat after Babasaheb. “The Congress govt did not open the statue premises to the public for the past two years and is now organising official celebrations after our warning 14 days ago,” he said.
