Konkan Railway intensifies ticket checking, nabs 37,000 unauthorised travellers in April

Mumbai: Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL) has intensified its ticket inspection drive across its network to curb unauthorised travel and ensure fair revenue collection. During April 2026, KRCL conducted 934 ticket-checking drives along with routine inspections, detecting around 37,000 cases of unauthorised or irregular travel, an official press note on Friday mentioned. The checks resulted in a recovery of Rs 2.9 crore towards due railway fare and penalties.For 2025-26, KRCL carried out 11,394 special ticket-checking drives. These inspections led to the detection of 4,99,675 cases of unauthorised or irregular travellers, with total recoveries amounting to Rs 27.68 crore as fare and penalties.KRCL said the intensified checks are aimed at improving compliance and protecting the interests of genuine passengers.
